on highway 85. that suspect was also pronounced dead at the scene. in san francisco early saturday morning another vehicle pursuit ended near candle stick park. late thursday night in sonoma county a sheriff's deputy shot and killed a kidnapping suspect after he led them on a chase with a victim in the car. a fifth officer-involved shooting happened in union city last night. officers shot and killed an armed man that they say pointed a gun at them after a traffic stop. all of these shootings are subject to internal review and the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave. >>> it was a wild high speed chase on city streets that led officers to fire on a suspect in san jose. that chase began around 2:30 in the afternoon. despite speeds of up to 100 miles per hour at times no officer or by stander was hurt. the spokesman says the suspect's identity may be released tomorrow. >>> today the triathlon was grueling as ever and thousands of people finished successfully one athlete died. race officials say they believe the 46-year-old man from austin, texas suffered a massive cardia

in connection with the death of an elderly news vendor in san francisco will be charnld with his murder after all. 77-year-old donald ayers was on break when he was attacked. mark anthony cassell walked up to him and slammed him onto the pavement for no apparent reason. the fall shattered ayers' hip and he died three weeks later in the hospital. cassell was charged with one count of murder and also will be charged with an additional count of elder abuse. the da said he didn't have enough evidence to charge him with more, but bail is set at half a million dollars. >>> there's word tonight that san jose is about to spend big so that tech giants continue thinking the golden state instead of the lone star state. it appears the city is prepared to spend millions to make sure that happens. we're outside to explain san jose's, shall we call it, an incentive plan? >> reporter: that's what we're calling it tonight, jessica, and it certainly seems you have to give to get is the philosophy the city of san jose is falling, and trying to make sure samsung stays and grows here in the silicon valley rather

played now the peninsula today. daily city police killed a suspect in san francisco. officers were chasing a stolen vehicle on san bruno avenue near the intersection of interstates 280 and highway 101 about 12:30 this morning. during the chase the driver and his passenger jumped out of the moving car. the passenger immediately surrendered but the driver reportedly ran off with a gun in his hand. when officers caught up to him, the suspect allegedly raised the gun and a dilly city police officer fired killing the man. >>> new information coming out about the man who killed two police detectives in santa cruz this week. 35-year-old jeremy goulet served two years in prison for gun crimes. the question now, why he wasn't in california's database and assault authorities take guns out of the hands of convict teens mentally ill. they want to prevent dangerous people from buying guns in the first place. federal law prevents those convicted of a crime and in prison for more than a year from owning a gun. goulet slipped through a loophole because the judge gave him two one-year sentences for

forstell had so much porn on his computer in san francisco, they are now considering pursuing several charges against him. he worked in this district from 2009 until february 10th this year, working at 11 different schools as a substitute teacher. but spent most of his time here. the police arrested nathan forstell for possessing porn, a lot of it, thousands of videos of children were found in his san jose apartment. >> some of the pornography that mr. forstell was sharing involved younger children, the youngest ones we saw were about 4 years old, up to about 9, the majority in the 5 to 7-year-old range. >> reporter: even more disturbing, the children in the same images were the same ages as the children he taught in seaside, south of santa cruz. that is not the only school forstell worked at. he was also a substitute from 2009 until february of this year. during that time he filled in at 11 different elementary schools and middle schools in the district, including a 5-month assignment, teaching third grade here at clyde arbuckle elementary school. >> he was a substitute teacher here

-old, an attorney from austin, texas, died just one minute after jumping into the san francisco bay right at the start of the race. officials say he had a heart attack. however, the medical examiner's office hasn't issued a cause of death. the water was 51 degrees sunday. cooler than normal because the race was held earlier than usual to accommodate america's cup races which take place in the summer when this race normally happens. the 63-year-old competitor died back in 2008 after the swimming portion of the race. >>> an investigation is under way into the death of an inmate at the marin county jail. he was found unresponsive. cpr attempts by jail personnel and paramedics failed to revive him and he was then pronounced dead. his name has not yet been released or a cause of death. >> a fire has destroyed a south bay landmark overnight. the happy restaurant went up in flames. the family owned hot dog restaurant is a fixture that's been there for 42 years. the owner is very optimistic vowing to reopen within just a few months. the fire started an an outside utility closet. >>> still ahead a
